Karen and Joseph: 25 Year Vow Renewal

You might remember Karen and Joseph from a past blog post sharing their insight on how they successfully made it to 25 years of marriage. For a refresher, Karen and Joseph were married 25 years ago in their military uniforms in a very casual setting.

Maria and Rob's Wedding at Foundation Room and DragonRidge

On March 19th, 2011 Maria and Rob became Mr. and Mrs. at the lovely Foundation Room inside the Mandalay Bay. The bride looked stunning as her wedding day look was inspired by the famous Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. Their wedding was a unique combination of Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with a Chinese flair. Their cake table was adorned with Bride and Groom skeletons and their Grand Entrance was very grand as they danced into their reception with a parade of Lion Dancers. Congratulations Maria and Rob!

DragonRidge Country Club Open House Review

Complimentary bridal open houses are put together by almost all of the golf and country clubs and other venues after the big Bridal Spectacular show at the end of January each year. After couples have narrowed down their venue selections, open houses are a wonderful opportunity to get a closer look at the venue of their choice. Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the DragonRidge Country Club Bridal Open House. I attended with an October bride of ours and her parents. Carrie Key, the Wedding and Events Director at DragonRidge wanted to hear some feedback from a wedding coordinator's perspective so she asked me to blog my review!

DragonRidge went ALL out for their bridal showcase and I wish I had more photos from the event to go along with the review.

Every table at DragonRidge was designed with a different color scheme and tablescape. They were all stunning in their own way. The food and cocktails were delicious and along with the wonderful entertainment, guests were not only touring the space but also experiencing an event.

Besides butler passed hors d'oeuvres, there were hot and cold action stations such as fresh mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes, a cheese tortellini pasta salad, calamari caesar salad, and fresh fruit parfait served in a champagne flute.

I couldn't get enough of their breakfast station which featured the usual but delicious eggs with cheese, homestyle potatoes, and breakfast meats, and assorted muffins and danishes.

My favorite at any event is always a mashed potato martini bar.  Two types of mashed potatoes were served in chafing dishes for guests to serve into their martini glasses - a gold Yukon potato puree as well as a purple potato puree. Guests can then top their potato puree with their own toppings of choice!

Live Action Stations of Peppercorn New York Steak flambéed with Brandy Demi as well as Seared Garlic Shrimp Flambéed with Pernod Liqueur were also available. I tried the shrimp and went back for seconds.

For dessert, there was the chef's signature “Fire and Ice” flambe station which were Bananas and Pineapple in a Rum and Cream de Cacao Carmel Sauce served over ice cream. There were also wedding cake samples from Tiers of Joy - their exclusive preferred cake designer.

And, what's a wedding event without some cocktails? A Blushing Bride cocktail as well as a Gorgeous Groom cocktail were served to guests!

For prospective brides and grooms, I think an intimate bridal showcase like this is a wonderful opportunity to check out the space while also trying out their food and service. Often times, you won't get a chance to taste a venue's food until your menu tasting which either takes place months before your wedding or can happen prior to booking (on occasion) - but with a fee. For the venue, it's an excellent opportunity to "sell" to a somewhat captive audience. Whether prospective or booked, DragonRidge was able to showcase the best of the best of what they can offer when working with their wonderful partners in floral, linen, musicians, photographers, and even officiants!

The food at their bridal showcase was delicious. That view is simply stunning. And as a final added perk, all attendees were entered into raffle drawings for plenty of great raffle prizes!

Thank you Carrie, Miya, and everyone at DragonRidge for your hospitality as always.

Angie and Steve’s Blush and Ivory Springtime Wedding

Angie and Steve were married on a beautiful May afternoon at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Henderson.  Angie, her parents and I have been planning her wedding for over a year so I was very anxious to see all of the details come together!  It was an absolutely stunning event and they couldn't have been happier!

The day started off at Green Valley Ranch where Angie, her bridesmaids, and the moms were pampered by Makeup in the 702 with hair and makeup.  The bride and groom were then transported to St. Francis by a rented Mercedes Benz.  The entire wedding party walked into the ceremony to the lovely sounds of a string duo by Classical Entertainment.

After photos and refreshments in a suite, it was time to celebrate at DragonRidge Country Club!  Angie surprised Steve with a stunning second wedding dress and hair change followed by a "first look" and more photos during cocktail hour.  A live band (Harbor Lights) kicked off their five and a half hour reception.

At dinner, guests dined on a delicious four course meal that included a refreshing duck breast exotic green salad, a pasta course, and a choice of an entree course of either Kobe Beef NY Strip, Roasted Peruvian Sea Bass, or Braised Young Chicken. The meal ended with a wedding cake dessert.

Their three tiered square wedding cake was set on top of a plexiglass with a layer of flowers underneath on a "diamond" encrusted white linen.

By the end of the evening, guests were treated to late night snacks including berries and crème fraiche in champagne glasses, a Bananas Foster and Ice Cream Station with all the trimmings, and butler passed Fresh Baked Warm Pretzels with cheese and mustard sauce and Gourmet Mini Beef Sliders served with Pommes Frites.

Their wedding decor included elegant blush silk dupioni table linen from Wildflower Linens, silver beaded glass chargers, silver Chameleon Chairs with pale pink cushions and Curly Willow Blush Chair Sleeves from Wildflower Linens and tall blush and ivory centerpieces all perfectly lit with pink uplighting and pinspotting to bring out their beauty.

The bride and groom and their bridal party sat at a long royal table and a runner style tablescape of lush floral.

No expense was spared and the result was a breathtaking celebration of Angie and Steve's love.  Congratulations again Angie and Steve!
